The Soft Garden
This small site with a newly renovated heritage protected wooden house needed a new garden structure.
The owners requested a functional garden with a visually light planting which would look natural in this old part of the city and would link it to the trees outside.
In the front yard there has been installed a comfortable path with a raised flower bed and a semi-transparent fence to create more privacy from the street. While in the backyard there have been planned two terraces surrounded by plants for the use of two family units.
The garden has been planted with deciduous trees and shrubs (sambucus, amelanchiers, philadelphus, viburnums) and perennials (geraniums, astrantias, digitalis, aconitums, cimicifugas, hakonechloas, thalictrums, iris, carex). After being established the plants will create a soft, semi-transparent screen from the neighbouring sites without overwhelming the space and become a suitable background for a historical house.
